Zo Shay is a Los Angeles-based audio engineer, musician, educator and ethnomusicologist.

Zo Violin Suit

Zo Shay is a multi instrumentalist, educator, and producer based in Los Angeles. He has been teaching music for 9 years and received a B.A. in Ethnomusicology, with a Minor in Visual and Performing Arts Education from UCLA. While at UCLA, Zo specialized in middle eastern violin and erhu. He has been studying violin for over 22 years, including western classical, middle eastern classical, and jazz. He has taught all ages and with a philosophy in building a wholistic musician, he can have fun with a first grader, while also building the skills of an older student.

Whether you are preparing for an orchestra audition, beginning your musical journey, strengthening your repertoire/understanding of music theory, or fulfilling a dream of playing tunes at a party, Zo will help you meet your music goals.

Zo uses materials such as The Violin Fun Book, the Suzuki Method, Maia Bang, and self created materials. He also incorporates jazz, fiddle, and other world tunes based on the student’s interest.
